Granero, 25, is poised to join the Hoops as they seek to offload Joey Barton to Marseille.

“The deal is subject to the player agreeing personal terms and passing a medical,” QPR said in a statement.

The club added that the player would be joining on a permanent transfer should he agree to sign.

Madrid-born Granero came through the ranks at his hometown club and has scored four Liga goals in 64 appearances for Real, who he rejoined after two years at Getafe.

A dynamic attacking midfielder, he is yet to play for the Spain national team but was a regular at youth and U21 level and has been linked with Sevilla and Tottenham.

QPR are also in talks with Marseille over Cameroon defensive midfielder Stephane M’Bia, although that move is dependent on Barton going the other way.
