Barcelona star Lionel Messi responds to recent criticism by claiming he is not an egotistical person.

The diminutive Argentine  has received criticism from the press this season as he under performed  for Barcelona in matches of great importance.

Speaking to US Magazine Esquire, the Argentine claims to be naturally humble in the face of adversity.

“I don’t have an ego. I certainly do not feel like I have one,” he said.

Lionel Messi also spoke about his son Thiago and said he will not force him into becoming a football player. It’s a shame because that would ruin Diego Maradona’s dream.…

“It makes me happy knowing that he’s at home waiting for me after training and playing. I’m not determined for him to be a footballer. Whatever he does in his life, I’ll support him,” he said.
