Alexandre Song (Cameroon / Barcelona), Didier Drogba (Ivory Coast / Shanghai Shenhua) and Yaya Touré Gnégnéri (Ivory Coast/ Manchester City) are the three players to run for the title of African Footballer of the year 2012, announced Thursday the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

The trophy for the best African footballer of the year will be awarded to the winner at the annual gala organized by CAF 20 current Accra (Ghana), the source added.

As for the title of best African player of the year 2012 based in Africa, there will be three to compete: Egyptian Mohamed Aboutrika and Zambians Rainford Kababla and Stoppila Sunzu.
