The list of contenders for the title of best African player of the year has been unveiled

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) announced Thursday the names of 34 selected for this title which rewards the best performing players since the beginning of the year in club and national team.

In this list, the majority are Ivorians  with no less than six representatives, including Didier Drogba and the winner of the previous edition Yaya Touré.

The vote of the African Golden Ball 2012 will be accompanied by the “Best player operating on the continent”, with 32 players competing.

Note that Zambians Rainford Kalaba and Stoppila Sunzu and the Tunisian Youssef Msakni were chosen for two trophies.

CAF will refine these lists before the end of October. The name of the lucky ones will be revealed on December 20 in Accra, at the traditional gala GLOCAF Awards.

Besides the two trophies, nine other awards will be presented on this occasion, with the title of club of the year or the best hope.
