Chelsea defender John Terry, sued by the Federation (FA) in a case of racist abuse towards Anton Ferdinand, was sentenced to a four-match suspension and 220,000 pounds in fines Today by an independent commission of FA.

The FA has said that the decision could be appealed within 14 days. On July 13, a London court had acquitted John Terry, Judge Howard Riddle considers that it has insufficient evidence to say that John Terry was someone racist.   John Terry, 31, was charged with uttering racist words against QPR  black player , brother of Rio Ferdinand during a Premier League match Oct. 23, 2011.   The case had cost him his captaincy of the England team and in turn had led to the resignation of coach Fabio Capello who disagreed with the sanction against John Terry. On September 23, he announced that he stopped his international career after 78 caps.
