English Premier League Preview

Chelsea vs Manchester United;

the top two teams square off in an early title decider. Chelsea come into the game in sparkling league form and are certainly the hottest team in the league, with the magical Juan Mata pulling strings. Man United come into the game in good attacking form, but they have been plagued by defensive frailties all season. But this is Manchester United, managed by Sir Alec Ferguson, they will step up to the challenge and show their championship metal. Chelsea have won games playing pretty football, this weekend’s game is going to come down to grit, grind and will. Titles aren’t won in October, but a win can definitely send out a message. Prediction 2-2 draw.

Arsenal vs Queens Park Rangers;

if Arsenal hadn’t loss to lowly Norwich last week, an upset may have been on the cards, but the possibility of Arsenal losing two straight to another bottom tier team will not happen. Arsenal at home will have a sparkling performance an punish poor QPR for last weeks result.
Prediction; Arsenal 3-O. The woes continue for struggling QPR and Mark Hughes.

Manchester City vs Swansea City;

Man City haven’t quite hit the form that took them to the championship last term. While they have shown great fight and spirit to will themselves to wins late in games, its going to take a lot more to retain the championship. Coupled with their mid-week champions league lost, and probable exit, everything is not so good at the Eitihad. Swansea will be out gunned as Man City look to get there mojo back. Prediction; Man City win convincingly.

The Everton, Liverpool, Merseyside derby.

The battle between the two city rivals who stadiums are divided by a park barely a mile apart. It’s a rivalry that splits families and city allegiances. It will be a hot and heated affair and with a possible sending off or two. On form and standings, Everton go into the game as favorites. Liverpool got their 1st home win last and will look to get on a roll, however, Everton have a bit too much in attack for Liverpool and are too strong defensively. Prediction: Everton get the win.

Southampton vs Tottenham Hotspur:

Spurs on the road in the south coast against a struggling Southampton, will give Spurs the opportunity to get back on track after their tough loss to Chelsea last week. A win here will also do well in cementing Spurs top 4 credentials. Southampton, on the other hand, had a hard time to date, on their premiership return. Unless Spurs are caught napping, it should be an easy victory for Spurs. prediction: Spurs 2-0 Win

Newcastle United vs West Bromwich Albion;

Newcastle unfortunate not to pick up all 3 points last week against Sunderland after playing 70 mins with 10 men, will look to get a win today. WBA came off a tough loss against a 10 player Man City last week, but Steve Clark has his WBA side well-organized and playing well and will look to get back on winning terms as they continue to enjoy their best ever premiership season. However, Newcastle will show too much quality and will come away with a 2-1 win.

Aston Villa vs Norwich City;

a bottom of the table clash against two teams struggling for results. However, Norwich come into the game on cloud nine following their victory over Arsenal last weekend. Hopefully they can use that result as a springboard to other results. Villa, have had a rough time so far, as they lack true quality and experience. A serious cash and player investment is needed for one of England’s finest clubs, if they are to avoid the drop.
Prediction: 0-0 stalemate as they split the points.

Reading. vs Fulham;

Fulham’s performances have slipped these last few weeks, even though they have still picked up results. Reading, meanwhile, have worked hard, but have not gotten the results, again falling short in a loss to Liverpool last week. They will get a result this weekend, as Fulham’s luck runs out and their road struggles come to ahead. Prediction; Prediction: Reading win 2-0 at home.

Stoke City. vs Sunderland;

Sunderland looked lackluster in their draw against 10 man Newcastle last week, while Stoke were unfortunate in their loss to Man United. However, Stoke at home at Britannica Stadium, the loudest and most buoyant stadium in the country, will be all too much for Sunderland. Stoke’s enthusiasm and appetite for the game will power then onto a convincing 2-0 win.

Wigan Athletic vs West Ham United;

West Ham, have adapted well to the premiership under Sam Allardyce, but in a less than glamour fixture, on the road, it will be difficult for Allardyce to get his boys up for the fight. Wigan on the other hand, have been on the wrong end of some unfortunate results while putting in good performances. They will be looking to get it their performance and the result right.
Prediction; Wigan 1-0 win in a dour affair.
