Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson believes his team is strong enough to eliminate Real Madrid in their Champions League clash at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils scored a precious away goal in Madrid to bring home a 1-1 draw, which means the Spanish side must at least score in England if they want to qualify for the quarter finals.

Ferguson, who has been watching Los Blancos in their last two games against Barcelona believe they are not a threat to his team:

He told the press: “Although we expected Madrid to have a lot of possession – and there were periods when they did – there was nothing that worried me unduly.

“They weren’t carving us open. They were generally just playing in front of our defenders, across the width of the pitch. We were comfortable with that.

“I felt we looked very comfortable and we gave a good account of ourselves. We could have scored five or six goals.”

“Unusually for Robin van Persie, he missed two great opportunities and their goalkeeper made a couple of good saves,” Ferguson said.

“Danny Welbeck also missed one just before half-time. We perhaps should have won the game”
