Tony Fernandes tweets, “Mark Hughes still the right man for QPR” 5

QPR chairman Tony Fernandes has told fans that under-fire boss Mark Hughes is still the right man for the job.

Rangers supporters bombarded Fernandes’ Twitter account following their latest defeat on Saturday to demand Hughes be sacked and replaced by out-of-work former Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp.

But the Loftus Road chief insisted a 3-2 reversal that left the club bottom would not force his hand.

Fernandes tweeted on Sunday: “For all QPR fans. Fans who analyse properly. I am not changing anything. And all shareholders agree.

“No team except the first game [a 5-0 home defeat to Swansea] has outplayed us. We need a consistent four defenders not changing every week especially right- and left-back. Mark is the right man.

“For all those calling for change, this is the team that outplayed Spurs and gave Chelsea a damm good game and you want change. No way.”

Hughes had staked his own claim to continue after the defeat, saying: “Am I the man to do the job? Absolutely.

“The fans who came stuck behind us. We bring big numbers and we are frustrated for them. We have to make sure we give them something to support.”

Fernandes has so far stood firmly behind Hughes after sanctioning a huge summer outlay on new players.
