Manchester United lead the table and Spurs jump to third place as we review this weekends EPL games 3

The EPL is back with a bang after the Champions league break, we take a look at another round of thrilling and entertaining games. First off, front runners United maintain their stranglehold on the league with an effective and practical 2-0 win over strugglers Fulham. It was far from a vintage performance, but enough to get the win and all 3 points. Goals came from Brazilian defender Rafael Da Silva, with a spectacular 30 yard drive and Ryan Giggs, closing it out late in the game.

Title holders Man City finally look like the City of last year as they finally got it in top gear and played with the skill and imagination that they are capable of in their win over fellow challengers Chelsea. Chelsea on the hand are continuing to have an uneven and inconsistent season. On this day they were never up to par and when Frank Lampard’s penalty was saved at 0-0 by City keeper Joe Hart, City took the opportunity to up the momentum and and really take charge. Yaya Toute looking fresh off the African Cup of Nations, was in dominating form. Cping off his fine display by scoring a fantastic individual solo effort. Carlos Tevez later stepped off the bench to drill one home from 25 yards. The win keeps City slim chance of retaining the title barely alive.

Spurs picked up a dramatic result with a fantastic 3-2 win over an emotional West Ham United, again inspired by the fabulous Gareth Bale. The win moves Spurs into 3rd place as they leapfrog Chelsea, keeping their aspirations for a top four and Champions lathe finish in top gear.

Welshman, Gareth Bale continues to be in sensational form scoring two goals on the night, including the winner late in stoppage time. Bale has now scored eight of his team’s last 10 goals in all competitions and 19 in total this season.

Arsenal keep their hopes of salvaging something from the season by aiming to secure a fourth place champions league spot. They git a hard fought win 2-1 win over relegation strugglers Aston Villa with Spaniard Santi Carzola scoring both goals.

In the Newcastle – Southampton relegation battle Newcastle, run out 4-2 winners and gave their survival plans a huge bonus in the process. The win also featured a great strike by french striker Papa Cisse that will definitely be a candidate for goal of the season.

Everton where looking to maintain their push for a Champions league top four position, but it was given a huge setback as they fell 2-1 to lowly Norwich. The win is massive for Norwich as it moves them safely into mid-table in 12th place.

Fulham dig out a much needed 1-0 win against Stoke City with former Spurs and Manchester United frontman Dimitar Berbatov scoring a sensational goal, drilling a volley into the top corner.

Elsewhere, West Brom pick up a 2-1 win over Sunderlsnd with on loan Chelsea striker Lukaku scoring both goals.

In the big relegation battle between Reading and Wigan. The visitors Wigan run out surprising 3-0 winners in a surprisingly devastating display. The win moves Wigan out of the relegation zone on goal difference.

With 11 games to go Manchester United are in pole position to win the title while at the bottom there are up 6 teams involved in the relegation battle.
