Rumours have been brewing and sources close to the Everton boss have suggested that indeed this could happen after Sir Alex shocked the world with the news.

We all knew that at some point this day would arrive, but we were never emotionally ready for it. He has been at the helm of the biggest club in the world for over a quarter of a century. He is a part of the furniture for crying out loud. I personally grew up knowing only Sir Alex Ferguson.

For those that haven’t realized in some of my writing is that I’m a stark Manchester United fan, born in Manchester and bred somewhere else, but also been a loyal red and this news still hasn’t hit home. Where will Manchester United go to next?

My personal belief is that the person who eventually does take over has to be as charismatic and as loved as his predecessor. Is David Moyes that guy? I mean i respect him, he has done a great job at Everton with a very tight budget, but he has hardly won anything.

There are other coaches that have won trophies on a shoe string budget so why aren’t their names being sounded out? This guy can not be Moyes, in my humble opinion it has to be some one like Mourinho. Mourinho has all the qualities needed to come in and take the role and make it his own. Moyes, would just be a puppet, and will definitely not be able to stamp his authority.

There is too much history, the staff are tight-knit and protected. Mourinho not only has the pedigree having won 2 Champions leagues titles, with different clubs, he has had success where ever he has gone and he has always had the love of his fans and the loyal support of his players. He has also mentioned that at some point he would like to be the Old Trafford supremo.

Well guess what?!!!! Sir Alex is going to retire!!!
Now is the time Jose, Mourinho, the special one, or what ever your name is. David Moyes surely can not be mentioned in the same breath?! And just another spanner in the works, some have mentioned the possibility of Ryan Giggs taking over the hot seat. But with absolutely no managerial experience, maybe he could be groomed as a possible future head honcho and become the new managers assistant.

My hunch – My hunch in the matter is this, I think Alex Ferguson heard about Mourinho wanting to leave Real Madrid, so basically contacted Jose and has handed him the reigns!

Anyway, I would love to hear your thoughts? Regardless of all of the speculation I would like to pay my respects to a true great.
